Toyota has officially revealed the eighth generation of the Hilux.

The all-new 2016 Hilux is now 70 mm longer and 20 mm wider than the previous generation, along with being slightly lower in height. The front fascia now gets LED headlights with daytime running lamps. The rear bumper has been redesigned, with rearview camera offered as standard in some markets. Based on the trim-level, customers can opt for 16, 17 or 18-inch alloy wheels.

Inside, the cabin has been redesigned, with new optional equipment such as a touchscreen display for the infotainment system, a 4WD changeover switch, leather interior and an LCD screen in the instrument cluster.

Looking at the engines, there is a 164 hp 2.7-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine and 278 hp 4.0-litre petrol motor. There is a 2.4-litre turbodiesel which produces about 160 hp and 400 Nm of torque and a 2.8-litre turbodiesel which churns out about 177 hp and 450 Nm of torque. Depending on the engine, it can be had with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Toyota claims the new Hilux can carry a payload of upto 1,240 kg.

The 2016 Toyota Hilux could make its way to the UAE, Saudi Arabia and other GCC countries by the end of the year.
