2018 Lexus LC 500 and LC 500h goes on sale in UAE & GCC

Lexus recently launched the LC 500 and LC 500h for the UAE and the rest of the GCC market.

The Lexus LC is the Japanese luxury brand’s first attempt at a grand tourer model. The 2-door coupe gets two engine choices – one is a naturally aspirated 5.0-litre V8 motor, mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. It produces about 467 hp and 527 Nm of torque which helps it propel from 0-100 kph in 4.7 seconds. The other engine is a 3.5-litre V6 coupled with an electric motor, with power transmitted via a hybrid transmission, which is a combined 4-speed automatic and CVT. Altogether this produces about 354 hp and 348 Nm of torque. This is good enough to make it move from 0-100 kph in 5.0 seconds.

Standard features on the LC 500 include power steering, power windows, electric foldable mirrors, cruise control, LED headlamps, smart entry and start system, front and rear corner sensors, panoramic roof, leather seats, 10-way power front seats, Mark Levinson surround sound system, DVD player, 2 USB ports, Bluetooth, 13 speakers, navigation, head up display, LED interior lighting package, seat ventilation and 21-inch alloy wheels.

There is a “Carbon” edition available for the V8, with carbon moon roof, carbon scuff plates, sports seats and Lexus Dynamic Handling, which is the luxury brand’s 4-wheel steering wheel system. Safery features include pre-crash safety systems, lane keeping assist, automatic high beams system, blind spot monitor, rear cross traffic alert, ABS, traction control, vehicle stability control and front, side & knee, curtain airbags.

In the UAE, the LC 500 and LC 500h have a starting price of AED 395,000. There is a “Carbon” edition, which retails for about AED 450,000.

Keep track of the latest prices and updates in the Lexus LC buyer guide.

  1. Saw it in DXB Mall: specs are showing a very very heavy car, and this is the 1st thing that pushes you out.

Then, the paddle shifters are playing / trembling as they would on a 370Z: they easily travel left-right are are not firmly attached to their supports.

    For a 400k car, that’s bad.

It however looks very nice and beautiful in and out.

  2. Cheap interior

  3. Toyota/Lexus has to go a long way in their interior design to be competitive..

    • you have to look at the interior in person to see how gorgeous it looks. Its on par if not beyond the germans. Definitely way more interesting than anything offered by BMW and AUDI.

  4. Cars are not all about 0-100kmh performance! (A reckless driver on SZR would say otherwise)

Especially this Grand Tourer, which is meant to be in competition with M-B S-Class Coupe and BMW 6-Series (not the M6 performance coupe). It’s a car you drive suited up, with the missus on the passenger seat, on a nice weekend drive to a restaurant where you hand your keys to the valet driver.

The picture of the interior in this article doesn’t do justice. In person and in other angles, it looks very elegant and luxurious both in and out, and it isn’t an overstatement if I say it looks better than its German competition. Kudos to Lexus for keeping its design almost the same as their LF-LC concept!

All these great looks, design and performance for almost half the price you’d pay for the S-Class Coupe (700k) or 6-Series (500k for 650i), I’d say this car is a steal!

P.S. It’s the only naturally aspirated V8 car in its class! 😉 (Correct me if I’m wrong)

  5. Totally agree with you PJ. Also it has more personality and looks like no other!
