Mercedes-AMG G 63 and Mercedes-AMG G 65: Exclusive Edition

Mercedes-AMG G63 Exclusive edition bids farewell to current G wagen

Along with the barely-facelifted versions of the S-Class Coupe and Cabriolet, at Frankfurt, Mercedes-Benz pulls two other rabbits out of its hat which come in the form of new exclusive versions of the G65 and G63 AMG models. The all-dark exclusive editions will serve as one final refresh for the current generation G-Class before the next-gen model arrives in 2018.

On the exterior, the exclusive edition gets minor modifications to set it apart from the normal ‘non-exclusive” versions of the G-Wagen. There is a stainless steel under-guard, there are AMG racing stripes and then there are dark aluminium-finished rub strip inserts. The spare wheel cover will be painted in the body color, for the first time in a G-Class. Speaking of colours, the Exclusive edition can be finished in any color from the normal G-Wagen paint palette, but an AMG Monza Grey Magno Matt point finish is exclusively offered for them.

Both the exclusive models get a set of 21-inch five spoke matte-black alloy wheels which comes finished in high sheen for the G63 and a ceramic polished look for the G65. As an option, another set of 21-inch wheels are also available which has high-sheen rim flanges and carbon fibre inserts on the side rub strip.

The interior also gets special touches. An Exclusive package adds two-tone leather-trimmed instrument panel and AMG sport seats. The leather offers six color options to choose from. The dashboard can be lined with either AMG carbon-fibre or black design piano lacquer trim. Other fine touches include red seat belts, leather-trimmed grab handles and a two-tone AMG Performance Steering Wheel that matches the seat colors.

The G63 and G65 Exclusive editions come with no engine upgrades though. The top-dog G65 continues to be powered by the tried and trusted 6.0-litre twin-turbo V12 that produces 630 hp. The G63 gets a twin-turbocharged 5.5-litre V8 good for 571 hp.

Expect these models to come to the UAE by the end of the year.
