2019 Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid brings green air to lineup

Porsche paints the 2019 Cayenne lineup green with the introduction of the 2019 Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid. The green SUV boasts of an electric-only range of 44 km in the NEDC test.

Visually, the traits that set the E-Hybrid apart from the regular models are the badges, the green brake calipers and the extra flap that opens up the power inlet. Everything on the exterior apart from these is shared with the other models. Inside, there are subtle detailing in the form of green dials which reads the level of battery juice and the battery consumption.

The  SUV combines the 3.0-litre V6 turbo-petrol engine with an electric motor to churn out 455 hp and 700Nm of torque. The battery is a 14.1kWh strong unit which gives it 44 kms of electric-only range. The electric motor alone is capable of producing 134 hp. The Cayenne E-Hybrid will also run from 0 to 100 hp in less than 5 seconds. The top-speed is capped at 253 kph.

The power is handled by an eight-speed automatic which delivers the power to an all-wheel-drive unit. There are several drive modes available to find the best balance between efficiency and power. The selectable drive modes, ranging from the electric-only mode to the Sport+, govern the amount and pattern of electric energy that’s being fed into the engine.

The standard 3.6 kW charger will consume 7 hours and 48 minutes of your life to charge the E-Hybrid fully when connected to a 230-volt 10A connection. But with an optional 7.2 kW and a 230V, 23A source, the time can be slashed down to 2 hours and 18 minutes. The charging can be scheduled remotely using a smartphone app.

The 2019 Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid should arrive on UAE and other GCC shores by early-2019.
