2020 BMW 7-Series gets massive look-at-me nostrils

The current generation of BMW’s flagship sedan, the 7-Series, hasn’t created the kind of hype that they were hoping for. So to refresh the appeal of its limo, BMW facelifted the sedan for the 2020 model year with a new engine and — love it or hate it — a massive kidney grille.

In a desperate bid for attention, the grille is 40 percent larger than the one on the current model and is finished in aluminium satin on all models, except the M760Li xDrive model which gets a Cerium Grey finish. It is flanked by a new set of adaptive LED headlights which can be swapped for optional laser headlights.  At the rear, the new slimmer tail lamps are connected by a thin light strip that runs across the width of the boot lid.

The 2020 BMW 7-Series borrows the latest generation digital instrument cluster from the 8-Series and the X7 to spice up its cabin, aside from new leather and trim options.

In the range-topping M760Li, BMW offers 600 hp and 850 Nm from the V12, while in the 750i xDrive, a completely re-engineered version of the 4.4-litre V8 is fitted. This churns out 523 hp and 750 Nm. There is a plug-in hybrid version too, with a six-cylinder engine paired with an electric motor to produce 389 hp. The eight-speed automatic transmission is revised and now comes with a Launch Control Function as standard.

The 2020 BMW 7-Series will arrive in UAE and GCC showrooms by the summer of 2019.

  1. Kidney failure apparently! 😛

  2. I owned BMW’s for 20 years, and still would, had my E39 not been destroyed in a fire..

This 7 series fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down.

BMW lost its way more than a decade ago. Its cars have become a distant memory of what the were at the zenith.

In the meantime, Audi got everything right. For me, there’s no longer any contest. Audi is superior in virtually every way.

    • Agree 100% since Chris Bangle left, the design is not good anymore.

I would say that the top design used to be Audi until 3 years ago, but now it’s Mercedes: The new Audi lines are too strict and sharp, while the Mercedes are still rounded and smooth. C, E and S class are so charming.

    • Well, to be honest, the 5 series is still OK, but the previous version was better.

  3. They don’t seem to figure out how to design the front grill yet.
    This one looks too aggressive!!

  4. The design is not innovative as it used to be 10 or 15 years ago.

It doesn’t have the wow effect for a new 7 series .
