2021 Range Rover Velar updated with new tech

Continuing the Jaguar-Land Rover range’s barrage of refreshes — Land Rover Discovery, Range Rover Evoque, Jaguar XF and E-Pace all have been updated for 2021 — is the 2021 Range Rover Velar. The midsize crossover SUV gets new tech and electrified engines for the new model year.

Like all other newly refreshed models in the Jaguar-Land Rover lineup, the 2021 Range Rover Velar gets the brand’s latest Pivi Pro infotainment system, running on a 10-inch screen. This gets the facility for over-the-air updates as well as detailed maps and app integration. Alongside the new infotainment system, the 2021 Velar also brings an active noise cancellation system, an air filtration system and a new 3D surround-view camera.

The main changes lie under the hood of the 2021 Velar. A new 3.0-litre six-cylinder mild-hybrid engine is added to the range. This engine produces 335 hp in a Velar P340 trim or 395 hp in a higher P400 trim. Both the models get AWD and air suspension as standard fitment. This engine can power the Velar from 0 to 100 kph in just over 5.4 seconds in the powerful P400 variant. The 2021 Range Rover Velar also gets a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine that produces 247 hp.

Expect the updated model to reach UAE and GCC shores by early next year.
