2022 Ford Expedition gets refreshed with two new variants

The fourth-gen Ford Expedition was due for a refresh, and that is exactly what it gets with the 2022 model year. The large SUV gets a makeover inside, out, nicer tech and it comes with a couple of new variants.

The visual updates on the 2022 Ford Expedition are flaunted best in the two new iterations in the lineup. The first is the Expedition Timberline, a new rugged model that elevates the off-road capabilities of the Expedition. This is no sticker job as it gets a higher ground clearance of almost 270 mm, underbody protection borrowed from the Raptor pickup, Trail Turn Assist system picked up from the Bronco, and 33-inch Goodyear Wrangler AT tyres. The Timberline Expedition will also get a unique front grill design and some orange accents.

On the other end of the spectrum, you have the Expedition Stealth Edition performance package. Intended for more spirited driving on road, this model gets stiffer suspension. It is also fitted with styling updates, which include glossy black accents on the front grille, side mirrors, fog lamp surrounds, running boards, lamp housings, and roof rails. It rides on exclusive 22-inch black wheels with red brake calipers. But the most important change is the engine, that it shares with the Timberline.

The mill in question is a 3.5-litre EcoBoost V6 that churns out 440 hp and 692 Nm of torque. The Timberline variant also gets a two-speed transfer case as standard.

The interior is spruced up by a large 12-inch display running Ford’s SYNC 4 infotainment system. This screen can be bumped up to a 15.5-inch unit, along with the latest SYNC 4A infotainment system at a cost.

The 2022 Ford Expedition gets the latest safety equipment including Road-Edge Detection, Intersection Assist, Reverse Brake Assist, Evasive Steering Assist, Object Detected Camera View, and Active Park Assist 2.0.
