2022 Toyota 4Runner gets more standard tech

Though officially not sold in our market, the Toyota 4Runner has a few fans here. And why not? Off-road-oriented ladder-frame SUVs are hard to find now, and 4Runner is a member of this rare cult. Now for the 2022 model year, the 4Runner gets small updates in the United States.

In the US, the 4Runner now gets more standard tech. They will now get LED headlights and fog lights. All trims will also get a rear occupancy alert to remind the drivers to check if their child or pet is occupying the rear seat before locking the vehicle.

The SR5 Premium, TRD Off-Road Premium, a new TRD Pro, and Limited trims of the 2022 Toyota 4Runner now get blind-spot monitoring and rear-cross traffic alert. The Limited and TRD trims get a new Multi-information display.

The off-road-focused TRD Pro gets a Multi-Terrain Monitor with 360-degree cameras to provide visuals of terrain under the wheels. On the luxury front, the Limited trim adds a Panoramic View Monitor that helps in parking and driving through tight lanes.

The new TRD Sport gets adaptive-damping suspension, 20-inch wheels, an eight-way power-adjustable driver seat, and special accents inside. There is an eight-inch infotainment screen that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There is also a new paint shade, Lime Rush, exclusive for the TRS Sport trim.

Power comes from a naturally-aspirated 4.0-litre V6 that belts out 270 hp and 377 Nm of torque. All trims are fitted with a five-speed automatic transmission.
