2023 BMW Z4

2023 BMW Z4 facelift adds improved style, more standard features

BMW Z4 goes through a Life Cycle Impulse, or as we, the common folk, call it, a facelift. The current generation of the Z4 came in 2020, and BMW is giving it a nip and tuck in the form of upgraded exterior design and more equipment.

Visual Changes

Hallmark features of the BMW Z4 front end include the large air intakes, the LED headlights with vertically arranged light sources positioned on the outer edges, and the long bonnet, which stretches over the wheel arches. BMW claims the latest design modifications enhance the roadster’s width and stance.

One of the prominent changes in the design of the 2023 BMW Z4 is down to the new M Sport package that is now standard for all the 4-cylinder models. The package revises the front bumper with three sets of air intakes, the same as many other M models. The side profile is spruced up with revised air intakes and an exclusive new design for the 19-inch wheels. Rounding up the design are three new paint shades, Thundernight metallic, Portimao Blue metallic, and Skyscraper Grey metallic.

M Sport package also throws in sports seats, leather-wrapped M steering wheel, M pedals, and SensaTec leather wrap on the dashboard.

BMW Z4 Mechanicals

Under this revised skin, there are not many changes. The engine options remain the same. The base sDrive30i gets a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that is good enough for 255 hp and 400 Nm of torque. Stepping up the game, the Z4 M40i gets a 3.0-litre inline-six engine that churns out 382 hp and 500 Nm. The sole gearbox option is the eight-speed auto, despite the rumours of a 6-speed manual making its way into the list.

Some reports suggested that BMW may kill off the Z4 in 2025 owing to poor sales. Yes, BMW has only sold 55,000 examples of the roadster since its launch in 2020. The new facelift should give the 2023 BMW Z4 a new lease of life for some more years.
