Aston Martin DBX S debuts as lighter, sharper, more powerful flagship SUV
Aston Martin has unveiled the DBX S, a new flagship variant of its luxury SUV lineup, boasting enhanced performance and refined design elements. Building upon the DBX707, the Aston Martin DBX S integrates advanced technology and weight-saving measures to deliver an even more dynamic driving experience.
Aston Martin DBX S Powertrain and Performance
At the heart of the DBX S lies an upgraded 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine, now producing 717 hp—a 20 hp increase over the DBX707. This enhancement is achieved by incorporating turbocharger technology derived from the forthcoming Valhalla supercar, featuring larger compressor wheels and other internal improvements. The engine maintains a peak torque of 900 Nm, ensuring robust performance across the rev range.
The DBX S accelerates from 0 to 100 kph in just 3.3 seconds and has a top speed of 310 kph, matching the DBX707’s performance metrics. A recalibrated 9-speed ‘wet clutch’ automatic transmission offers more aggressive downshifts in Sport and Sport+ modes, enhancing the SUV’s responsiveness.
Weight Reduction and Handling
Aston Martin has introduced several weight-saving options for the DBX S. An optional carbon-fibre roof—the largest single-piece carbon component ever fitted to an Aston Martin—reduces weight by 18 kg and lowers the vehicle’s centre of gravity.
Additionally, optional 23-inch magnesium wheels save 19 kg of unsprung mass, improving ride quality and steering precision. A lightweight polycarbonate honeycomb grille and carbon-fibre components for the front bumper and rear diffuser contribute to a total weight reduction of up to 47 kg when all options are selected.
The DBX S also benefits from suspension enhancements introduced in the DBX707, including revised calibration of air springs and electronic dampers, which improve transient body control and overall stability.
Design and Interior
Visually, the DBX S distinguishes itself with vertically stacked quad exhaust outlets and a pure black vaned grille. Optional carbon-fibre elements and a new lower livery design in colours like Rosso Corsa Red, Trophy Silver, and Podium Green further accentuate its sporty character.
Inside, the DBX S features a bespoke interior theme with a distinctive herringbone pattern on the seats, which can extend to the headlining if the carbon-fibre roof is selected. Standard Alcantara trim covers the seats, headlining, centre console, and instrument panel, while semi-aniline leather is used in high-wear areas. Red seatbelts and embroidered ‘S’ logos on the seats add to the sporty ambience.
Aston Martin DBX S Availability
The Aston Martin DBX S is available to order now, with deliveries expected to commence in late 2025.
