BYD Shark 6 plug-in hybrid pickup launched in the UAE

Al-Futtaim BYD has officially launched the BYD Shark 6 in the UAE, the region’s first-ever plug-in hybrid pickup truck. The new model marks BYD’s entry into the midsize pickup segment, combining electrification and off-road capability.

Powertrain and Performance

The Shark 6 is built on BYD’s new “DMO Super-Hybrid” platform, pairing a 1.5-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol engine with dual electric motors. Together, they produce 429 hp and 650 Nm of torque, allowing 0–100 kph in 5.7 seconds and a towing capacity of up to 2.5 tonnes.

With its long-travel double wishbone suspension, multiple terrain modes (Mud, Sand, Snow), and a claimed combined range of 520 km, the Shark 6 seems to have the ingredients for both daily driving and serious off-road use.

Design and Interior

Styled with inspiration from its namesake, the Shark 6 features a bold front fascia, distinctive shark-fin-inspired taillights, and a premium cabin designed to rival those of its high-end rivals.

Inside, highlights include a 12.8-inch rotating infotainment screen, a 10.25-inch digital cluster, a head-up display, ventilated seats, and an 8-speaker Dirac audio system.

Technology and Safety

The Shark 6 offers Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) power export, a 360° camera, and Adaptive Cruise Control. It also carries a 5-star Latin NCAP safety rating, underlining its focus on occupant protection.

The BYD Shark 6 is now available in the UAE through Al-Futtaim BYD, adding a unique electrified option to the region’s pickup market.
