2026 Toyota GR Yaris officially arrives in the Middle East with new Aero Performance Package
Toyota has officially announced the arrival of the Toyota GR Yaris in the Middle East, marking the first time the rally-bred hot hatch is being offered in the region. Developed directly from Toyota’s global motorsport programs, the GR Yaris makes its regional debut with the newly introduced Aero Performance Package, designed to improve aerodynamic efficiency, cooling performance and high-speed stability.
Born from Toyota’s participation in the FIA World Rally Championship, Super Taikyu Series and the Japanese Rally Championship, the GR Yaris represents a motorsport-first approach rarely seen in modern production cars. Originally launched in Japan in 2020, it was the first Toyota model engineered from the outset with competition as its foundation, rather than adapting an existing road car for racing use.
Drawing on the expertise of the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing World Rally Team, the GR Yaris has been engineered for precise response and control across varying road and driving conditions. Toyota recently secured its fifth consecutive FIA WRC manufacturers’ championship, experience that directly influenced the development of the GR Yaris.
Beyond its performance credentials, the GR Yaris also reflects Toyota’s focus on craftsmanship. Each unit is assembled at the GR FACTORY within Toyota’s Motomachi Plant in Japan, where takumi master craftsmen ensure the highest levels of precision and build quality, translating motorsport technology into a road-going package.
Power comes from Toyota’s 1.6-litre three-cylinder turbocharged engine (G16E-GTS), producing 296 hp and 400 Nm of torque. Buyers can choose between a newly developed 8-speed automatic transmission or a 6-speed intelligent manual gearbox, both paired with Toyota’s GR-FOUR full-time all-wheel-drive system. Featuring an electronically controlled multi-plate clutch and three selectable drive modes, the system continuously varies torque distribution between the front and rear wheels to maximise grip and cornering stability.
The newly introduced Aero Performance Package adds six functional aerodynamic components developed through extensive testing in rally and circuit conditions. These include a ducted aluminium bonnet for improved cooling, a front lip spoiler to reduce lift, fender ducts to release wheelhouse pressure, a fuel tank undercover to smooth underbody airflow, a variable rear wing for enhanced high-speed stability, and rear bumper ducts to reduce aerodynamic drag under heavy load.

Lightweight construction plays a key role in the GR Yaris’ performance, with aluminium used for the bonnet, doors and rear hatch, along with a carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic roof to lower the centre of gravity. The suspension setup combines a MacPherson strut front and double-wishbone rear, while front and rear Torsen limited-slip differentials, forged alloy wheels and Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres further enhance grip and handling precision.
Safety features include Toyota Safety Sense, offering systems such as Pre-Collision System, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Trace Assist, Adaptive High Beam, Blind Spot Monitoring and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert with automatic braking. Additional systems include multiple airbags, Vehicle Stability Control, ABS with Brake Assist and Hill-start Assist.
The GR Yaris will be available in five exterior colours, including Platinum White Pearl Mica, Super White II, Precious Black, Precious Metal and Emotional Red. Inside, buyers can choose between Black x Red or full Black interior themes, reinforcing the car’s performance-focused character.
