The Philosophy Behind LEPAS, the UAE’s Newest Automotive Arrival
Most automotive brands claim a visual philosophy. Few can point to one that holds together from sketch to finished vehicle. LEPAS, the Chinese marque preparing to launch in the UAE this year, is built entirely around a single creative conviction: nature remains the most reliable source of great design. Chief Designer Ivan Dulanovic recently spoke with regional media in Dubai to explain how that conviction translates into the cars themselves.
The creative framework, ‘Natural Energy,’ stems from the belief that nature already has the answers when it comes to form and proportion. In practice, this means the design team studies organic shapes and feeds that into how the cars actually look and feel on the surface.

Nowhere is this clearer than in what the brand refers to as ‘Leopard Aesthetics.’ The leopard serves as a recurring touchstone for Dulanovic, a reference point for agility and controlled power that he returns to at the start of every new model. Its influence is strongest in the V-shaped ‘Leopard Eye’ daytime running light signature, which makes the lineup instantly recognisable on the road.
The detailing extends to the grille, where sculpted, fashion-inspired textures add a layer of visual richness. But it is the bodywork surfacing that arguably does the real work. Here, Dulanovic’s team has drawn on the curvature and translucency of traditional Chinese porcelain, shaping panels so that light and shadow travel across them in a way that shifts depending on the angle.

Inside, the cabin picks up the same thread. A curved display architecture flows downward through the dashboard in what LEPAS describes as a ‘Waterfall’ layout, while surface patterns draw on the texture of pebbles smoothed by running water. The overall atmosphere is one of deliberate restraint, intended to feel like a pause from the pace of city life.
Beyond the styling, LEPAS has put considerable engineering effort into addressing the realities of driving in the Gulf. The cooling system has been calibrated for extreme heat, so it can bring a sun-soaked cabin to comfortable temperatures almost instantly. Advanced dust filtration protects against fine sand and dust, and raised ground clearance across the range ensures the vehicles handle it comfortably when the road gives way to open desert.

LEPAS is entering the UAE with a trio of SUVs, each targeting a different buyer profile. The L8 sits at the top as the flagship, built to compete on presence and refinement. The L6 emphasises technology and contemporary styling, while the L4, the smallest of the three, is pitched as a nimble urban proposition.
Beyond these initial offerings, the company has committed to launching eight models in total over the next three years, spanning the full spectrum of SUV and sedan segments. It is an aggressive timeline, but one that signals serious intent about building a sustained presence here. With a clear point of view, engineering substance tailored to the region, and an ambitious product roadmap already in motion, LEPAS has laid strong foundations for its UAE chapter.
