2021 Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA and GTAm will be delayed as FCA shuts down Italy factories

GTA (Grand Turismo Alleggerita) is an iconic nameplate for Alfa Romeo. This name adorned the legendary Giulia GTA from 1965, a car that has won hundreds of victories for Alfa back in its glory days. And now when Alfa Romeo recognised the interest in something crazier than the current Giulia Quadrifoglio, if only to lift sales of the slow-selling sedan, Alfa turned its history pages to resurrect the GTA once again. Hence the new Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA and GTAm debuted earlier this month, just before the COVID-19 crisis turned into a pandemic and forced Alfa Romeo and several other carmakers to start shutting down production in Italy as well as in many other countries in Europe over the past week.

Alfa Romeo secretly develops 350 hp Giulia Veloce

One of Alfa Romeo’s latest creations, the Giulia sedan, has been the talk of the town as the Giulia Quadrifoglio became the fastest sedan to lap the Nurburgring, beating Porsche’s Panamera Turbo a year ago. The 7:32-minute run achieved by the hot Alfa directed the automotive world’s attention towards the Giulia range. People soon found out that there exists a huge gap between the 276 hp model (known as Veloce in Europe and Super in America) and the 505 hp Quadrifoglio. Rumours now suggest that Alfa is working on a 350 hp Giulia to fill this gap up.

Alfa Romeo Giulia regular version revealed at Geneva Motor Show

Alfa Romeo has revealed the regular versions of their new rear-wheel-drive Giulia sedan at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. Built to take on the BMW 3-series, Mercedes C-Class and Audi A4, the Giulia is presented to us in three variants — base, Special, and the red hot Quadrifoglio that was first unveiled late last year with with its extra vents, rear diffuser, boot spoiler and bigger wheels.
