So if you thought that every car manufacturer was going the ‘Ford Explorer’ way when it came to overhauling their existing midsize SUVs, you’d be wrong. There are a few manufacturers who decided to try the opposite route, taking a step backwards by choosing to transform a commercial pick-up into a four-wheel-drive wagon in a half-hearted bid to create a viable replacement for their already-cancelled midsize SUV. So what was essentially competing with the refined Toyota Prado, now tries to go after the simplistic Toyota Fortuner. That new wagon is none other than the all-new Thailand-built 2013 Chevrolet Trailblazer.

Chevrolet Trailblazer 2013 claims Middle East’s most popular SUV title?

It seems to be the season for making tall claims. General Motors put out a press release saying the Chevrolet Trailblazer is the “Middle East’s most popular SUV” without backing up this fib with any more details. That might be a bit hard to do in reality, with Toyota around, and with the real Trailblazer being discontinued since 2009.

2013 Chevrolet Trailblazer revealed


The all-new 2013 Chevrolet Trailblazer, based on the Isuzu D-Max pickup platform, has been revealed ahead of the upcoming 2012 Bangkok International Motor Show. First previewed in concept form at the Dubai International Motor Show last year, the new Trailblazer will go on sale in the South-East Asian markets by middle of this year, as it will also be built in Thailand.

In a surprise move, Chevrolet will introduce the all-new 2013 TrailBlazer midsize SUV at the 2011 Dubai Motor Show this November. Built on a new global body-on-frame midsize platform, the TrailBlazer will “combine the hauling and towing capability of an SUV with the ride comfort and efficiency of a crossover.” In reality, it is based on the Chevrolet Colorado pickup and will likely be built in Thailand and Brazil for sale in countries outside North America.
