While performance SUVs make no sense as a concept, pairing powerful engines with bulky bodies, they sell well enough for the Jaguar F-Pace SVR to continue into 2021, with better performance and improved aerodynamics.
Jaguar has announced changes to their 2018 F-Pace, XE and XF models, including a new “Ingenium” 4-cylinder engine for all three models. It replaces the older 4-cylinder Ecoboost-derived turbo motor that was bummed off of Ford and did duty in the base XE, the Land Rover Discovery Sport and the Range Rover Evoque. Expect the latter two to get the new engine soon.
When we first heard that Jaguar was going to do their own SUV, we didn’t think it made much sense, considering the carmaker’s other half is dedicated to only building SUVs, including crossovers. It then got a name which made even less sense. Then we saw it in the flesh, and it looked like it could be an interesting vehicle. Our writer Gautam drove it overseas, but we finally got to look at one up close and personal ourselves.
There’s something oddly incongruous about sitting up this high in something with a leaping cat logo on the steering wheel. That’s the first thought that comes to mind on sliding into the cabin of the all-new Jaguar F-Pace and motoring a few kilometres down the road in Montenegro.
Jaguar has finally officially taken the wraps off the 2016 F-Pace, the company’s first ever crossover, at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show.
Last we heard, Jaguar-Land Rover had a dedicated engineering facility in the UAE. It’s the reason why everybody’s been seeing the camouflaged Jaguar F-Pace prototype roaming the streets, usually alongside a convertible Range Rover Evoque. Instead of spy shots, Jaguar has just released their own heavily-photoshopped beauty shots of the prototype.
Jaguar have confirmed their new crossover, imaginatively named the F-Pace, will go on sale in 2016.
