November is going to be an exciting month for car enthusiasts in Dubai, as the Dubai Motor Show is going to kick off during November 14th to 18th, bringing with it the debut of many new cars to the region. Also to be held during that time frame, on the 16th and 17th, will be the Dubai Motorsport Festival, featuring two days of various racing cars.

The 9th edition of the Middle East International Motor Show in Dubai, the largest event of its kind in the region, promises to be bigger and better than ever before, and will be held from the 14 – 18 November 2007 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre (next to Trade Centre building).

The exhibition will showcase 10 of the world’s fastest production cars, including the Shelby Aero, which recently screamed into the Guinness Book of World Records TM for being the fastest production car in the world. Another exciting highlight of the show will be the hugely popular West Coast Customs (WCC). Their presence at the show will involve a live on-stage car conversion demo for the first time in the region.

Adding a star-studded touch to the show will be the exciting Aston Martin DBS as seen in the 2006 James Bond film “Casino Royale”. The unique ‘Cars of the Stars’ walkway will feature a galaxy of exclusive collectors automobiles, including the classic 1978 Rolls Royce that was used by the Queen of England during her last visit to the UAE, currently owned by H.E Sheikh Hamad Bin Hamdan Alnahyan.

The Motor Show audience will also witness The UAE’s first Solar Car, a trailblazing invention by Saqr Bin Saif. This Emirati invention will be on a rare public display, and is sure to strike a chord of pride with all the visitors to the show. Opening hours are from 11 am to 10 pm on the 14, 15, 17 and 18 November and from 3pm to 10pm on Friday 16 November. The tickets cost AED 20 and can be purchased at the venue or online at www.timeouttickets.com or call Toll Free phone 8004669.

The Dubai Autodrome will concurrently run the Dubai Motorsport Festival on 16 and 17 November 2007. Off track entertainment will include kids activities, Motorsport Educational Village, Bridgestone F1 Experience & Pit Stop Challenge, taverns with live music and action on the screens, the Red Bull Stunt Team & Flugtag Display, parachute jumpers and fashion parades.

Unlike previous season, when the running of the Motorcity GT500 was limited to one category, the Dubai Motorsport Festival will host three very different international series and three classes of the burgeoning UAE national racing classes.

The three day programme of events will include the Dubai debut of latest motorsport sensation, the Speedcar Series, which will feature household names such as Jean Alesi, Johnny Herbert, Narain Karthikeyan, Stefan Johansson to name a few of the stars who will be slugging it out in the roaring V8 cars.

A massive grid of the ever popular FIA GT3 European Championship consisting of the worlds most exotic supercars, turned into racers, will star at the Dubai Festival Weekend. Fans can expect one of the largest and most varied grids of cars including the greatest marques in sports car racing such as Ferrari, Lamborghini, Ford GT, Corvette, Porsche, Dodge Viper and Aston Martin.

The highly competitive Formula Campus Renault French Championship will run it’s final round on the Dubai Motorsport Festival weekend. The series stars young, up and coming drivers single minded drivers on the early path to Formula One.

In what is a major fillip for local motorsport the Dubai Motorsport Festival weekend will provide an international stage for UAE national racing by including on the bill races for Saloon Cars, Superbike style motorcycles and the Le Mans style Gulf Radical Cup. The on track activities will be spread over the three days with Thursday being dedicated to practice and qualifying sessions for the international and the national classes. The race programme on Friday and Saturday will be similar with a race for each category – Speedcar, GT3, Formula Campus Renault, national Saloon Cars, national motorcycles and Radical Series – on both days. Children under 16 will be entitled to free entry accompanied with adult.

In all honesty, It’s been a while since I’ve been to the Trade Centre. All I can say is drive to the Trade Centre roundabout. At the roundabout take the exit that comes after the Sheikh Zayed Road exit, and then take a right somewhere, depending on the signs they put up on how to get to the parking lot. If you need directions from Sharjah to the Trade Centre roundabout, let me know.

And I’m not sure I want to be identified. 😆

  5. jus scroll up completely and look at the drivearabia logo to see a male model posing…guess who 😉

I’ve never met any racing people (since I don’t really care about celebrities). I’ve come across Suleyam three times already at events and haven’t bothered to approach him yet (unless he agrees to register a right-hand-drive Skyline GT-R for me in Dubai).

The Lumina is just a tester.
