Mercedes-Benz official track cars for F1

The Mercedes-Benz SL63 AMG will be used as the official safety car for the 2008 season of Formula 1 racing. The SL63 is one of those Black Edition models, with lightened panels and a fixed roof. In addition, the official medical car will be a Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG station wagon.

Does Merc do this to advertise the cars??
Anyway, if you listen attentively then you can hear the sound of the AMG engine over F1 engines!! I want my car to make the sound.

Of course it is for indirect advertising. Audi supplies their cars to the Dubai Autodrome, but of course no one notices.
