After grabbing headlines for the world’s cheapest car, Tata has now introduced a new people carrier at the New Delhi Motor Show. Dubbed the Tata Magic Iris, it seats five, and is meant to compete with three-wheeled auto-rickshaws rather than minivans.
It is no surprise then, that the Magic Iris uses a 611cc water-cooled diesel engine, offering up all of 11.2 hp and a top speed of 55 kph on a good day.
The Tata Magic Iris is designed only for the Indian, and will offer low maintenance costs and high style. The company will launch sales later this year.
Looks like my ALienware laptop !
It’s nice to see Tata trying to be different….
As is, I think this vehicle would work in most urban environments in cities like London or Mumbai where the average speed is very low due to congestion.
In order to increase its appeal to the masses, I do believe the vehicle should have a top end of around 80 to 90kmph in order to at least keep up with freeway traffic.
This would mean a 1 to 1.2 Liter diesel or supercharged 600cc diesel.
If demand will be high for this, a faster version will probably be built.
Great idea for employee transport for short distances.
i can lift it
^…looooooooool, this car makes me laught…. who wants to be seem inside it… or even driving it…hehehehehehehe
even though having a maximum speed of only 55km\h in india the price will be high
come on! 55km/hr is too low for Indian conditions……
Much better than the 3 wheelers.. Well at least now not everyone is deprived from a stylish transport…
Perfect for modern cities and safe since speed is not too high. Please get rid of those awful autorickshaws!
