It’s been a busy couple of weeks in Dubai, as several automotive-related companies held all sorts of events, none of which involved any new car launches.

After opening a new showroom complex in Sharjah’s Tasjeel Village earlier this month, Arabian Automobiles hosted fashion designer Aiisha Ramadan’s latest “prêt-à-porter” collection at the Infiniti Center showroom in Dubai. The fashion show was the third annual event by Infiniti as it attempts to associate itself with the fashion world. During the event, Aiisha Ramadan launched a high-end ready-to-wear sub-brand titled ‘I by Aiisha’ with its first collection composed of 42 dresses.

Elsewhere, music-producer ‘Howie B’ collaborated with high-end British audio-equipment maker Bowers & Wilkins to “extract” musical notes from a Maserati Quattroporte engine. The “Seven Notes” will release commercially and do a world tour in 8 cities, including the one in Dubai that was held on April 24. One of the “songs” is an hour-long piece called the “Symphony in 7”, and the tracks will be available for download from the sevennotes.com website.

Bosch held a press conference to highlight their training centre in Dubai, as well as to announce the latest developments and plans at Bosch Automotive Aftermarket, Middle East and Africa. Mentioned were Bosch Automotive Aftermarket workshop concepts, and the introduction of the Express Car Service in the Middle East market. There are 209 dedicated Bosch Automotive Aftermarket service stations across the MENA region. They were particularly proud of the 111th anniversary of Bosch Spark Plugs, having produced more than 11 billion of 20,000 different types of spark plugs since 1902.

And finally, the UAE Mercedes-AMG Owners Club held a drag-racing event for members, sponsored by Continental Tyres. Emirati Mohammed Seif won the top spot with his modified CLS 63 AMG against 34 other entrants at the Dubai Autodrome on April 27th, taking home a brand new set of tyres. Continental also displayed their ContiSportContact 5 P high-performance tyres, available in wheel-size 18-inch onwards.
