Long-term intro: Shijil’s 2013 Toyota 86

When time came to replace my daily driver, a 2008 Volvo S40, I wanted something that’s fun and involving to drive. Soon a list was formed which included V8 Mustangs, Nissan 350Z’s, Hyundai Genesis Coupes and VW Golf R’s. As with all my car purchases that start from one thing and end up at something else entirely, I randomly checked the Toyota 86 listings online and bingo! There was a base-model 2013 model Toyota 86 automatic within my reach.

The fatal accident which took the life of the 40-year-old driver in the United States is the first major accident that happened while a computer was at the wheel. The Tesla Model S which he drove was controlled by Tesla’s autonomous driving system, Autopilot, at the time of the accident, raising questions over the reliability of Autonomous driving systems.

Product review: We test if CarReport, UAE’s version of CarFax, is worth the money (updated)

The UAE’s most popular classifieds website recently announced a partnership with a service called CarReport which will apparently tell users whether any car in the UAE has had an accident or not, using just the VIN number. We were ecstatic, thinking we finally got our own version of America’s amazing CarFax service. Update: We have added statements from Dubizzle and CarReport at the end of the article.
