New car buyer guide update: part 2

New car buyer guide update: part 2

toyota.jpg

I hate Land Cruisers simply because most of them seem to be driven by morons. So as much as I’d like to hate our goofy-looking 2008 Toyota Land Cruiser tester, it has impressed me enough to think about adding it to my list of recommended cars after the review is done. It really is that good. But more on that later. Here are the latest updates in the new car buyer guide, although prices (and some of the specs) will be corrected and updated accurately later:

Rolls Royce – Drophead Coupe
Alfa Romeo – 159, Brera
BYD – F3
Toyota – Yaris 1.5 Sedan
International – MXT
Cadillac – CTS, STS
Nissan – 350Z, Pathfinder

Also, there was an issue with the posting of comments in this blog, but I fixed it after reader Assassin alerted me to the problem. All comments have been restored. I was busy selling the Supra, so I didn’t catch the problem earlier.

  8. Dear Friends,
i am presently working in saudi arabia. Now I want to buy a car here in saudi arabia.I like the suzuki swift which is 1.5 ltr engine with all the options & auto gear. But there is a good offer from hyundai on accent for 39000 SR fully automatic but without ABS and only one airbag.
    1) suzuki swift 1.5 L – 50000 SR—Fully loaded
    2) hyundai accent 1.4 L-39000SR—auto gear,NO ABS.
    3) toyota Yaris 1.3 L– 42000 SR– Not much Idea about it.
    4) Toyota corolla — but it is almost about 54000 SR.

Can anybody suggest me about the Suzuki swift car in saudi arabia or in the middle east. How is it working and compared to Accent how is it;s functin.I know that they belong to different segments. One thing is it seems that Yaris is also not having much resale value here in saudi arabia.i appreciate if anybody can advise me accordingly sothat i can take a good decision.
My first priority is suzuki swift. is it ok or not here in saudi arabia?

    Thanks in advance,

    Hashim–

I’d go for the Swift simply because it is the most interesting car on your list. But there is very little information about Swift in the GCC, since it sells in small numbers due to poor dealership advertising.

  10. thank you mr.hussain chowdary,

Yes. You are right, here not much information and not even many people dont know about it.
i would like to know whether the new SX4 sedan is using the same platform of the swift ,that;s wht I understood from other sources. What about the Sx4 hatch back.Even though the sx4 is more powerful than the swift,I would like to go to swift still. How is it;s handling or is it suitable for the high temperatures in the saudi arabia or not.

All new cars handle the Gulf heat just fine. I believe the handling should be fine for your needs, although you have to know that small cars shake in the wind and everytime a truck passes by.

  12. I WANT TO KNOW WHICH ONE TO CHOOSE IN BETWEEN THE NEW TOYOTA RAV 4 AND HONDA CRV AS MOST OF THE DRIVING WOULD BE IN THE INDUSTRIAL AREAS OF SHARJAH AND OFF ROADS AND EQUAL AMOUNT IN ROADS OF DUBAI AND SHARJAH.

    MY BUDGET IS 100,000 AED
