After the less-than-satisfying reveal of the 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class sedan, debuting at the 2009 Geneva Auto Show will be the 2010 E-Class Coupe, replacing and effectively killing off the CLK model line.

2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe

The four-seater E-Class Coupe is surprisingly the most aerodynamic production car ever, with a Cd of only 0.24, much lower than even supercars. Noteworthy features include frameless doors and fully-retractable windows, although these don’t help the flow of the design as much as they are supposed to.

Three petrol-engined models will be initially available, namely a 204 hp I4-powered E 250 CGI BlueEFFICIENCY Coupé, a 292 hp V6-powered E 350 CGI BlueEFFICIENCY Coupé and a 388 hp V8-powered E 500 Coupé. The E 250 gets a 5-speed automatic, while the others get a 7-speed auto.

The electronic safety are excessive and too many to list. They include an ATTENTION ASSIST system to literally wake up sleeping drivers, PRE-SAFE to prepare a car’s seat-belts and airbags to deploy in an imminent crash, Adaptive Main Beam Assist that keeps re-adjusting the headlights based on lighting and oncoming traffic, DISTRONIC PLUS to brake for you if it thinks you are a retard and are headed for a crash, pedestrian-friendly self-deploying bonnet, and upto nine airbags that includes a knee-bag.

Other features include adaptive suspension settings, screen-based infotainment system, AMG sports kit with 18-inch wheels, various cabin trim choices and more. With an exterior and interior like that, the E-Class Coupe needs all the fancy options it can get to appear appealing.

  1. this car looks awesome ….i liked it…
but i think because of the unusual aerodynamic..the back seats wont fit a dog  …but over all, it even looks much better than the saloon version…

  2. this model looks strange and wierd due old school body of the car, the previous madel looked much better than this one. The rear light style also looks odd and does not go with the model, i think merc has lost the it factor!

  3. hmmm not sure what to make of it…looks pretty but too many “eyes” on the front makes it look almost alien…interior still looks like it was chewed up and spit out, sigh

  4. LMAO! 😆 chewed up and spat out. that would be a way to put it… lol

  5. and btw, I like the car’s ext.

  6. the exterior looks like the CL-Class or the new term S-Class coupe. They just didnt know what to do with the interior – So they just a flat plastic board and stuck buttons to it:).

  7. the steering wheels sux big time!

  8. what the heck is a pedestrian-friendly self deploying bonnet???!!!!…..so u go stand in front of it and it jst bangs your head???

  9. the Ext looks almost the same as CL …. But i think the E-class sedan was much better

  10. joey:
this is how that sytem work. somehow, the system has to tell the difference between a car and a person just by the impact on a bumper. once it has detected a persons leg’s, the hood raises SLIGHTLY from the windshied-end. this means the persons head won’t have enough distance to gather speed before hitting the hood.

  11. ok, here’s a bit of info off wikipedia:
The new XK introduced a world first in pedestrian safety, PDBS (Pedestrian Deployable Bonnet System). In many pedestrian collisions with vehicles, head injuries occur when a pedestrian’s head hits the bonnet of the vehicle. The injuries are usually sustained from the bonnet deforming and the pedestrian’s head colliding with the engine block underneath rather than the bonnet itself.

Jaguar’s innovation is to have sensors in the front bumper that determine if a pedestrian has indeed been struck and this then triggers two pyrotechnical charges that instantaneously lift the bonnet, providing extra distance between engine and head. The hood’s sheet metal cushions the impact better than the solid engine block.

  12. thks BJD(Boris)… dat seems to be a pretty nice system after all….but i still hate the exterior but like the interior, neat, plain and simple design…

  13. ugly rear and the interior…..merc needs to fix its act…soon!!!

  14. guys in pajero monocoque?

  15. I meant. Guys, is pajero monocoque?

  16. THIS CAR IS SO SEXY HOT. I LOVE IT. I JUST BOUGHT A 2009 C-CLASS AND CANT WAIT TO TRADE FOR THIS NEW E-CLASS COUPE.KUDOS MERCEDES BENZ FOR FINALLY MAKING A SEXY CAR!

  17. those who commented…. I just need to know how many of you had merc or have merc?
I had one E-240 2005 elegance I think my car was so much better than the new E-class. The whole design is cheap and it seems they didn’t put much effort to creat an eye catcher car. exterior is sux and here is my question since when E-class had a coupe class? anyway it’s not what i expected. I was waiting for new E-class thats y i sold the old one :)))))E-class is going down for ever. now im thinking on audi A5 or s8 these two cars are amazing.

  18. CLK much better looking to my eyes the E coupe appears too long for a coupe something just not right here…Merc at this point makes one good-looker and that’s the C63
