Rolls-Royce has released brief details and photos of its smaller new ‘RR4’ model. Dubbed the 200EX for now, the baby Rolls-Royce seen here is still in concept form, but the final production version should be almost the same as this one, with a traditional name. And it is still a very large full-size car.

The 200EX is built on the 7-Series platform and is 5.4 metres in length, 1.95 metres in width, 1.55 metres in height, and has a wheelbase of 3.3 metres. Features include seating for four, air suspension, LED headlights, rear ‘suicide’ doors, 20-inch alloy wheels with 255/45 front and 285/40 rear tyres, and an unknown new V12 engine.

The interior of 200EX is finished in supple, natural grain Crème Light leather, with Cornsilk carpets and cashmere blend headliner. The featured wood veneer is Santos Palissander, if all that makes any sense to you.

The concept 200EX will debut at the upcoming 2009 Geneva Auto Show, while the production 2010 Rolls-Royce model will debut later this year.

Update: It is now called the Rolls Royce Ghost.

  1. why are these type of doors called suicide doors? did a person somwhere in history, open them and kill himself? or do the doors kill themselves?

  2. Author

I believe the story was that most four-door cars in the classic days had such rear doors, and thanks to crappy build quality, they used to open while travelling and people fell out.

  3. ok. now the car.looks great in and our but the steering looks like its out of a truck!

  4. if these doors are in the final design god save RR i mean come on would a man of ‘RR’ stature with a chauffeur driven rr squeeze into from those rear doors? unsightly but amusing to see just imagine a big fat oil baron trying to get in. impratical

  5. RR cars have always been a beauty and statement of sheer elegance!!..this car is no exception 🙂

  6. A bit off the topic…

New RX 350 is being launched today here in Bahrain…

    Any updates on that?

  7. The cheap RR. I think it is going to be filling the road sooner or later here.

the size is abit bigger than the 7 series longbase. So dont worry about it. They made this car for more of everyday use RR. The price would be more expensive than the Bentaly I predicting about 800k or 900k

  8. those doors aren’t so small…

  9. Superb Hpe so Affordable at least

  10. I love this 🙂 about time RR released a ‘smaller’ car 😛

PS. Any news on the Chevrolet Traverse?
its been out here for 2 weeks now…

  11. These doors are called suicide doors because if you open them in traffic and a car hits one it will slam shut with you caught in the middle… In regular doors a car from behind will pull the door away from you.

  12. yeah, thats also a possible explanation…

  13. It is called suicide doors because the first car that put this was the old Lincoln dont remeber which one but it was in the 60s long time ago they didnt have seatbelts in cars. So when the car moves fast the door would open.

  14. loooooooooool…nice explanation for those doors…i hate those cars and how they look fat either have those suicide doors or terrorists door..doesnt matter with me 🙂 🙂

  15. I like absolutely everything about this new Rolls except perhaps the nose.
