Ford F-150 SVT Raptor coming to UAE
It took long enough, but the 2010 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor, quiet possibly the most aggressive offroad truck ever, is on display at the 2009 Dubai Motor Show, and it will be offered in GCC countries sometime next year.
While the display models are the existing US-spec “extended-cab” models, with a 320 hp 5.4-litre V8, although a 411 hp 6.2-litre V8 will become available later, as well as a 4-door “crew cab” body style. We hear that the GCC-spec Raptor will exclusively be of the 6.2-litre crew-cab variety.
Noticeable differences between the 2010 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor and conventional F-150 include a distinctive grille that has the Ford name carved into it, front bumper, vented bonnet, front fascia and fenders, functional hood extractors, fender extractors, as well as visible FOX Racing Shox, the only internal bypass shocks available on a street truck.
Another key difference between the F-150 SVT Raptor and the base F-150 is it is more than 15 cm wider. Ford highlighted this with distinctive marker lamps. The Raptor is available in four colours, and that ‘dirty’ sticker-job is optional. Interior features are limited to two-tone upholstery.
In addition to a beefed up suspension and Fox Racing Shox, standard are BF Goodrich All-Terrain TA/KO 315/70-17 tyres on 17-inch cast-aluminium wheels, electronic locking diff, hill descent control and “off-road mode” throttle mapping. Ford actually encourages high-speed off-road jumps.
While pricing has not been announced, we estimate it would go for around Dhs 160,000 or more in the UAE, if not more. Look for updates in the Ford F-150 buyer guide.
