Porsche Cayman R coming to UAE & GCC in 2011

Expanding its limited range ever further with model variants, the Cayman will now be offered in a stripped-down version that is 55 kg lighter and with 10 horsepower more than the Cayman S. Dubbed the Porsche Cayman R, it made its world debut at the 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show last week.

Weighing in at 1295 kg, the mid-engined Cayman R Coupé is powered by a refined 3.4-litre 6-cylinder offering 330 hp, and mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox, good for a 0-100 kph time of 5.0 seconds. The optional 7-speed “Doppelkupplungsgetriebe” automanual reduces that time to 4.9 seconds. For further paper performance, the Cayman R can be outfitted with the optional Sport Chrono package, bringing down the time to 4.7 seconds. The manual one can do a top speed of 282 kph while the PDK automanual can do 280 kph. Rated fuel consumption ranges from 9.7 l/100 km for the manual to 9.3 l/100 km for the PDK.

Unique features include 19-inch lightweight wheels, a fixed rear wing, 20 mm lower suspension, a bunch of stickers and various deleted equipment, for which you’d have to pay a base price of Dhs 233,000 in the UAE. The first models of the new Porsche Cayman R in the Middle East region are expected to arrive in March 2011.

Keep track of GCC updates in the Porsche Cayman buyer guide.
