2011 Chevrolet Spark spotted in the UAE

At first it was the Chinese Chevy Sail, then the new Hyundai Elantra, and now there, I’ve spotted the all-new 2011 Chevrolet Spark. Looks like I hit a hat-trick with ‘spotting’ new cars.

If anyone is interested, this is how the new Spark looks like in public, as seen in Sharjah with a Dubai numberplate. The interior seems to have been upgraded from the prevoius cheap-looking one to something more funkier enough for young ladies with new licenses. Exterior design has changed massively too, and looks much better.

This Korean-built Spark has a manual gearbox, a CD stereo, a speedo which looks like an attachment to the steering wheel column using super glue, door handles and power mirror buttons, and nothing much else.

There is no word from dealers about this one. A grand launch party or a hazardous long drive event solely for the Spark is not expected either. To see the car in action, just watch the third episode of Transformers 3 releasing on July 1 worldwide — amaze yourself at the wonders of the robot-car. Just don’t expect the production version to transform into anything though.

The pre-production Spark was displayed at the Sharjah Auto Show last year, with a speculative listed price of Dhs 36,000.

Keep track of UAE & GCC updates in the Chevrolet Spark buyer guide.
