Middle East Motor Tuning Show 2011 in Sharjah

The upcoming edition of the Middle East Motor Tuning Show has lined up an exciting mix of adrenaline-pumping activities that will set the tempo for the second edition of the region’s leading car tuning and customisation show.

It will be held at Expo Centre Sharjah from May 12 to 14, 2011. Tickets cost Dhs 25.

The main attraction at this year’s show will be the Monster Energy Drifting Arena, which will showcase precise balance of steering, accelerating, braking, shifting and pushing the boundaries of what a car is capable of to the limit.

The event will also offer enthusiasts an opportunity to meet and greet their drifting heroes, take photos with them and get their autographs.

Another sensational attraction at the show is going to be the ‘Project Falcon’ Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD created by Al Ghandi Customs. It is the winner of MBC Action’s ‘Battle of the Garages’, which showcased customisation skills of teams from the region.

The theme of the Falcon Silverado was the national emblem of the UAE with the amazing paintwork featuring hand-painted falcons and images of the Burj Khalifa – and the eye of the beret-wearing falcon on the tailgate is actually the reverse camera for parking safety.

The suspension has been raised by seven inches, and additional performance and styling upgrade has been done on the truck. The interior has new leather and suede upholstery, the rear bench was thrown out in favour of two individual chairs and everyone within gets to revel in the 1500 watt sound system with two 10-inch subwoofers.

Another attraction which will literally be music to the ears of auto lovers is the return of the Car Audio competition. The contest was launched for the first edition of MEMTS in 2010 and since it got tremendous positive feedback, Expo Centre Sharjah is presenting it for the second edition of the show too – but a lot more bigger and better this year.

Being assessed on the basis of EMMA (European Mobile Media Association) rules, international judges will be evaluating the event, which is aimed at supporting car lovers in their endeavor to get concert-hall sound quality in their vehicles. Winners will take home exciting prizes.

For the second consecutive time, one of the biggest names in the car audio industry, Pioneer, is sponsoring the contest.

Besides, the results of the pre-event activity, Airbrush Contest, will be announced and the winning airbrushed car and design will be unveiled on the first day of MEMTS. MEMTS 2011 will also be a comprehensive showcase of the latest trends in car modification from leading companies across the world. This year, the show will have several dedicated areas for different types of cars and car customization, including the Millionaires’ Hall, the Motorsport Hall and the UAE Performance Zone, the Styling and Accessories Area and the Car Audio section.

The launch edition of the Middle East Motor Tuning Show was held in October 2010 and during its five-day run it attracted more than 75,000 visitors.
