Volkswagen Golf 2013 specs and pictures revealed

The next Volkswagen Golf was just unveiled in Germany. This will be the seventh version of the model, which will be lighter, slightly longer and wider than the outgoing model.

Weight reduction is the most significant change with Volkswagen engineers managing to shave 100 kg off the new Golf, the majority of the loss due to the bodyshell using more high-strength steel, which is 80% of the total compared to 66% for the previous generation.

Lower weight means better fuel economy numbers, with the 140 hp 1.4-litre TSI engine achieving a combined 4.8 litres/100 km, while the diesel-powered 105 hp engine gets a 3.8 litres/100 km European rating.

Expect the 2013 Volkswagen Golf to hit showrooms in the UAE and rest of the GCC by early next year.

Keep track of updates in the Volkswagen buyer guide.

  1. Mid life facelift to a version that was already a facelift to the previous version. Bland. And those alloys look extremely big for the car.

  2. Frankly speaking …. I think the older shape is better

  3. and regardless of what u seel this will be a guaranteed hit!

and it is german so it must be good (hehe) 😉

  4. hehe. The new G7 might look simlar to the old one however is all new car. Its a new platform similar to A3. read here: http://www.netcarshow.com/volkswagen/2013-golf/

  5. That looks like an upscale interior.. I’m wondering how much they will price this thing.

  6. new shapes is great. hope to get a v6 version in GCC.

  7. Would have looked nice 10-15 years ago!!

What is going on at VW to design such an old looking car.

  8. Looks like a polished design; aesthetically pleasing. however it doesn’t really push the design envelope

  9. EPIC FAIL! that’s all I’m saying. the MK6 was only launched 3 years ago and now they decide to release this because apparently the MK6 failed “quote from VW’s CEO at the launch”….What about the resale value for all the people that bought their MK6’s? They should have released this car instead.
