Abu Dhabi Police impound 600 vehicles during UAE National Day


Abu Dhabi Police claimed around 600 vehicles were impounded in the capital city during the UAE’s 41st National Day celebrations.

According to Brigadier Hussein Ahmed Al Harethi, Director of the Department of Traffic and Patrols, said about 7,603 violations were issued for traffic offences in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Gharbia between December 1st to 3rd. About 200 cars were seized on the spot, while another 400 have yet to be impounded. They have each been fined Dhs 2,000, one month impound and 12 black points.

One of the most common violations was exhaust, headers and air filter modifications, to increase engine noise. Other offences included tinting windows above the 30% limit, accessories on the car covering the number plate and littering. Also vehicles whose occupants were spraying pedestrians or exiting the vehicle on the middle of the road were also fined.
