Mazda CX-5 2013 now in UAE showrooms

We’ve just received word that the 2013 Mazda CX-5 compact crossover is now on sale in the UAE. Replacing the slow-selling CX-7, the CX-5 has been receiving rave reviews in the foreign press for being more of a driver’s car than most crossovers.

The basis for the Mazda CX-5’s new look is the company’s new “KODO – Soul of Motion” design theme, with a new front-end that features a five-point grille and new signature wings. Inside, the 5-seater cabin offers features such as a 4:2:4 three-way split-folding rear seat, and a Bose infotainment system with a 5.8-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth and USB port. As far as the upholstery goes, leather and two kinds of fabric are available for the seats and trim in two colours. The soft-touch material adopted for the majority of dash surfaces and door trim is offset by a central panel featuring glossy piano-black treatment.

The only engine available is a direct-injection 2.0-litre “SKYACTIV-G” 4-cylinder that has a 13:1 compression for more torque, better fuel economy and lower emissions, although slightly detuned compared to the motors offered in Western countries. It offers up 152 hp at 6,000 rpm and 200 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm for the front-wheel-drive model, or 151 hp and 198 Nm for the all-wheel-drive model. Both come with a 6-speed “SKYACTIV-Drive” automatic.

The CX-5 comes equipped with likely-optional safety tech such as High Beam Control System which automatically switches between low and high beams to ensure good night visibility for everyone; a Smart City Brake Support system that helps prevent under-30 kph frontal collisions; and a Lane Departure Warning System.

Prices in the UAE range from Dhs 94,000 to Dhs 134,000, and is available at Galadari showrooms in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and other Northern Emirates. The CX-5 is already available in Oman and Saudi Arabia.

Keep track of updates soon in the Mazda buyer guide.

  4. great looks but so underpowered for a 2013 model and sooo overpriced. Dam! if this is the price of a cx5 then how mych rav4 will be priced then!!!!

  5. Boo on the pricing. Car is good

  6. Great car and excellent reviews in europe and America. But only downside is underpowered engine 2.0L. In Europe,America and rest of worls CX-from january 2013 will be launched with 2.5L with 185HP but in GCC again we are getting low powered engine.

  7. Checkout the new ford escape, it is equally good and not that expensive!!!

  8. why all the CUV are lacking power? their power trains are almost the same while keep growing in size generations after generations!..all are within the 170-180 hp like rav4, sportage, CRV etc.. not to mention qashqais and ASX numb acceleration family. It looks like you need to pay 200% or more to get a premuim badge just to enjoy average of 50 HP more!

  9. this will be a big FAIL

  10. galadari please compare your price to base santa fe AWD 3.3V6 96k
