2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray officially revealed in Detroit

The most talked-about car at the Detroit Auto Show, the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray has finally shed its covers, although the complete design was already leaked several months ago. A completely new car with a new engine, the C7 Corvette is a major change for the model after a long time.

Getting straight to the engine, it features a new LT1 V8 engine, but still has the same 6.2-litre displacement. Power has gone up however, with the new Corvette Stingray now producing 450 hp and 610 Nm of torque. More interesting is the 7-speed manual transmission it will have, with rev-matching technology. For customers who don’t like the third pedal, there is a 6-speed automatic transmission, the same gearbox as the previous generation, but tweaked with different internals for better performance. A new electric power steering system and cylinder deactivation help to improve fuel economy, said to be now less than the previous generation. There is a Drive Mode Selector which has 5 settings – Weather, Eco, Tour, Sport and Track.

Looking at the exterior, we see some similar design elements from other brands such as the new 2013 SRT Viper from the front, the vents and windows of a Nissan GT-R on the side, and rear fender-top vents like that of a Ferrari 458 Italia. The rear still incorporates the trademark four-lamp design, however it looks more like a modified design from the Chevrolet Camaro. The four exhaust tips lined up together is one of those things you either love or hate.

The interior is where they have made some much-needed improvements. The designers made sure they cover as much of the interior as possible with soft-touch materials. It features a more driver-focused cockpit and a smaller steering wheel. New seats with more bolstering have been added.

The new 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray should arrive in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and other GCC countries by the end of the year. It is expected to be priced at about Dhs 260,000, given that pricing for the older-generation C6 model had already been creeping up substantially.

Keep track of updates in the Chevrolet Corvette buyer guide.

  1. Correction: Ferrari 458 Italia, not 468.

Anyways, related to the car, I think this is a much more interesting and much anticipated improvement for the corvette. The previous generation corvette was pretty much boring.

  2. Simply and Perfectly awsome car ohhhhh no driving machine….

  3. Finally a sharp looking Corvette. It Appeals overall.

  4. what a huge disappointment. this thing looks like a cheap combo of various sportcars that are out there for years. not much left of an once so unique muscle monster

    very poor

  5. Why do they have to copy the SRT Viper’s front, shame on the designers.. The rear looks nice though, unmistakably corvette.

    • You mean unmistakably Camaro.

    • guys 🙂 camaro is a chevy and guess what.. a corvette is a chevy too, and this post is beyond crap 😀 who wrote this? it doesnt have the same vents as a gtr nor does it look like a 458.. does the writer even know what a 458 is.. since he wrote 468 when he first wrote the post.. and the whole post is just too dull, this is a really amazing car, but.. to be honest people living in the gcc (i’m not talking about arabs alone, i mean expats as well) the majority know nothing about cars, they just read oh this does this much hp, it can go over this speed it can reach… etc.. they lack real knowledge about what a car really is..

    • lol, fanboy. Why don’t you post a picture of your Aveo? I’m sure now you’ll say you own 3 Corvettes and a Ferrari, just like me.

  6. Don’t really like the steering wheel much, it looks pretty olden types!

  7. looks like the guy who wrote this review is a ford or a dodge guy!! this is a wonderful peice of art and for that price, amazing production.. if the writer spent more time reading how they changed the chasis and fit in the engine better than graping a pic of the vette and comparing it with other cars pictures, im sure we would have a better review..
cant wait to see the Z06 (maybe it will be called Z07) version of this monster..

  8. will arive in dubai in november priced around 330,000 AED.

  9. what the price of c7 corvette
