The highly anticipated Mercedes-Benz AMG GT has been revealed. It is the first car entirely developed in-house by AMG. As such, the official name is Mercedes-AMG GT, dropping the Benz.

Two variants of the AMG GT will be available, both with the same V8 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged engine but with different tunes. The standard AMG GT engine produces 456 hp and 600 Nm of torque, helping it reach a 0-100 kph time of 4.0 seconds and reaching an electronically limited top speed of 304 kph.

The AMG GT S gets the more powerful engine, producing 503 hp and 650 Nm of torque. Performance figures indicate a 0-100 kph time of 3.8 seconds and can hit an electronically limited top speed of 310 kph.

Power is delivered in both variants through a 7-speed dual clutch automatic transmission. The standard AMG GT gets a mechanical rear-axle locking rear differential while the AMG GT S gets an electronic locking rear differential. The GT S also has an AMG RIDE CONTROL suspension with electronically controlled dampers with three different modes – Comfort, Sport and Sport Plus.

The AMG GT has a starting weight of just 1540 kg, thanks to the body structure being built through a mixture different materials which include steel, aluminium and magnesium.

The Mercedes-Benz AMG GT should make its way to the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and other GCC countries by next summer.

Keep track of the latest prices and updates in the Mercedes-Benz AMG GT buyer guide.
