Ferrari FXX K hypercar revealed at Yas Marina

Ferrari fans can safely say that Christmas has come early this year, with the revelation of the new Ferrari FXX K hypercar; an iteration of the LaFerrari. As the name suggests, the FXX K will be a track-car. The car was unveiled at the Ferrari Finali Mondiali in Abu Dhabi this week.

The additional ‘K’ following the ‘FXX’ signifies the onboard KERS hybrid system. In essence, the FXX K system has been optimized by an electric motor that buzzes out 187 hp alongside the 6.3-litre V12 that has been boosted to produce 848 hp and 760 Nm of torque. In total, the car puts down 1035 hp and 900 Nm of torque.

The FXX K, according to Ferrari will not be used in competition, but we’re guessing it will lay platform to a host of their upcoming track-racing cars. The menacing aero package cladding the car includes a two-part splitter in the front, vertical fins along the flanks, side skirts extending between the wheels, a dynamic rear wing, vertical fin and a giant diffuser. All of this translates to 50% more downforce that pushes down a whooping 540 kg at 200 kph. The car will also ride on 19 and 20-inch alloys wrapped in Pirelli racing slick tyres in the front and back respectively, and the braking force comes from a set of carbon-ceramic brake discs.

The FXX K also brags a re-calibrated electronic differential, traction control, ABS, Racing SSC (Side Slip Angle Control) and a 4-mode Manetinno dial on the center console to switch between levels of electric boost.

Don’t expect to see much of it on the roads though, since this is a “laborotary-car” that will mostly grace the track.
