Kia launched the all-new 2016 Optima at the 2015 New York Auto Show.

The new Optima gets a completely new chassis which is lighter and stiffer than the outgoing model, as it uses more high-strength steel. The front fascia gets new headlights, new front-grille and big air intakes in the front bumper. It also gets new HID headlights with a High Beam Assist system which automatically switches to low beams when oncoming traffic is detected.

Inside also many changes have been done and higher quality materials have been used. It gets more comfortable seats, additional soft-touch materials, a six-speaker audio system, and an infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility.

Optional equipment include heated and ventilated front seats, leather and Nappa leather upholstery as well as an Infinity audio system with 14 speakers and a 630-watt digital amplifier.

Under the hood, the U.S. version gets 3 engines to choose from; the 2.4-litre 4-cylinder with 185 hp and 241 Nm of torque, the turbocharged 1.6-litre 4-cylinder with 178 hp and 264 Nm of torque, and a turbocharged 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine which produces 247 hp and 352 Nm of torque.

Safety features for the car include an Around View Monitor, Advanced Smart Cruise Control, Blind Spot Detection system, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and an Autonomous Emergency Braking system which will automatically bring the vehicle to a stop to avoid a collision.

The 2016 Kia Optima should make its way to the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and other GCC countries before the end of the year.

Keep track of the latest prices and updates in the Kia Optima buyer guide.
