The all-new 2016 Chevrolet Camaro has been revealed by General Motors. The sixth-generation model of the American sports car is now lighter than its predecessor, with a new added engine option as well.

The new Camaro is said to be 90 kg lighter than the outgoing model. Under the hood, it gets a new 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, which produces about 275 hp and 400 Nm of torque. Other engines include the 3.6-litre V6, which produces 335 hp and 385 Nm of torque, and the 6.2-litre V8 which churns out about 455 hp and 616 Nm of torque. Both engines benefit from direct injection, variable valve timing and cylinder deactivation.

All engines are available with either a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. The V8 manual gets active rev-matching technology as well, like the Corvette.

The ride quality and handling are said to have been improved as well, with a new multi-link MacPherson strut front suspension and new five-link independent setup at the back.

The interior apparently gets more higher-quality materials and a new instrument panel. A new 8-inch central screen is available to show different kinds of information to the driver. A new drive-mode selector has been added to the centre console to tweak shifting, steering, and chassis settings.

The 2016 Chevrolet Camaro could make its debut in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and other GCC countries early next year.
