Chevrolet have officially revealed the all-new 2016 Cruze yesterday.

Under the hood, it gets a new powerplant, a turbocharged 1.4-litre 4-cylinder engine which is mated to either a standard 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. Power is rated at about 153 hp and 240 Nm of torque. Chevrolet claims it can reach from 0-100 kph in about 8.2 seconds.

The new body of the Cruze is 27-percent more stiffer but also about 113 kg lighter. The car has been lowered by 2.5 cm, while the overall car is 6.8 cm longer.

There is more legroom and kneeroom for rear passengers thanks to the longer wheelbase. It gets a 4.2-inch centre display integrated in the gauge cluster while the infotainment system gets a standard 7-inch display or an optional 8-inch system.

In the U.S., the Cruze is sold with 10 airbags, disc brakes and rear-view camera as standard. Optional safety equipment include safety and assistant technologies such as Lane Keep Assist, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Side Blind Zone Alert and Forward Collision Alert.

The new Chevrolet Cruze will probably come to the UAE, Saudi Arabia and rest of the GCC as a 2017 model year sometime next year, as GM are selling the facelifted current generation model in this region as a 2016 model year.

Keep track of the latest prices and updates in the Chevrolet Cruze buyer guide.

  1. Looks like an ugly Kia Cerato copy.

  2. I don’t think it’s ugly,it just doesn’t stand out in the crowd. It could be a Kia or Corolla/Camry. No one would know if you took the badges off.

  3. They could have changed the name to ‘Snooze’ and nobody would care!

    Few points that’s stand out.

-front looks lifted straight from the current toyota Avalon.
-profile looks like the current Monroe
    -back looks just fugly.
-the central tunnel basically makes it a four seater, GM inferred that much not to provide a central head rest.
-RS badging on the front air dam looks like someone from Ford was poached recently.
