Mercedes has officially revealed the all-new E-Class at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show.

Like the C-Class, the 2016 E-Class also takes its design cues from the S-Class. The entry-level and Exclusive trim has the traditional front grille, while the Avantgarde and AMG models will have a two bar grille with a large Mercedes logo in the middle. Multibeam LED headlights and “stardust effect” taillights are optional equipment.

The interior also gets a major upgrade, featuring higher quality materials and the design language of the S-Class. It gets a new steering wheel with touch-sensitive control buttons that respond to horizontal and vertical swiping movements.

In Europe, the E Class will get two different engines options initially. The E 200 will have a 2.0-lite 4-cylinder petrol motor that produces 184 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque. The E 220 d has a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder diesel engine with 195 hp and 400 Nm of torque.

Later on, Mercedes will introduce an E 350 d with a 6-cylinder diesel engine that develops 258 hp and 620 Nm of torque. There will also be an E 400 4MATIC with a 6-cylinder petrol engine that produces 333 hp and 480 Nm of torque.

Mercedes will also offer an E 350 e plug-in hybrid which has a 4-cylinder petrol engine, an electric motor, and a battery pack. This gives it a combined output of 279 hp and 600 Nm of torque. The model can travel approximately 30 km on electricity alone.

In the United States, the E Class will be launched with a turbocharged 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine that develops 241 hp and 370 Nm of torque. It will be mated to a new nine-speed automatic transmission.

The new E-Class has an optional semi-autonomous driving system called Drive Pilot. When activated, the system will automatically drive the car on highways at speeds up to 210 kph.

The 2016 Mercedes E-Class should arrive in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman and other GCC countries in the next few months.

  1. See guys? This non-amg styledoesnt come to the middleast unfortunately. In my opinion there should be non-amg versions because there designs are more classic and benz like and let amg styling be only for sporty cars

  2. what a mindblowing design. beautiful!!

  3. So how do you like your Mercedes meal? regular, medium, or large? what the hell are they thinking??!! they are all the same now. C, E and S, I’m not saying they look bad, they are beautifully designed, but they are so similar without and identity now

    • yeah…same like bmw n audi sedan car line up…. small medium large…hard to distinguish from a distance…not liking the way mb designs going…the interior looks first class !

  4. Its a nice vehicle, but as Samer said it is a larger C version and smaller S version.. 🙂 what the hell,, copy paste with different sizes!!!

By the way, Mercedes is losing its youth / young families appeal too with this model specifically, as it appeals to older people. Time will tell if this is a success model or not.

    • You should look at all Mercedes Benz models before posting such a statment.

In the past the S and E were different in a small family of cars; however, today they have a big range of models to suite all tastes: from the young to the old and from the adventerous to the conservative.

  5. Huge disappointment. Apart from the similarities to it’s siblings, particularly the C-Class, this car looks absurd from certain angles. The rear is ugly with its long overhang. It needs the AMG kit to make it easier on the eye.

I like Mercedes interiors, same goes for this. Not sure if the sporty steering wheel goes well with the classic cabin though.

  6. Lovely car indeed.
By the way Mercedec has a big range of models to choose from.
The car although similar to the S-class sits perfectly in the middle of the sedan group targeting a certain group of potential buyers.
There are more daring designs and other model types to suite all tastes.
Maybe in the past the S and E should have been different but not today.
This care will do well in our markets.
