2017 Toyota Land Cruiser TRD unveiled at 2016 Oman Motor Show

Oman’s Toyota dealer seems to have the UAE beat in new model launches this year, as sharing space alongside the 2017 Corolla on the Toyota stand at the 2016 Oman Motor Show was this 2017 Toyota Land Cruiser TRD.

The TRD version is identified by exterior add-ons such as grey front and rear bumper garnishes as well as over-fenders, a red TRD metal skid plate, unique 18-inch TRD alloy wheels, chrome side protection moulding, aluminium side steps with covers and TRD-branded chrome-finished exhaust tips at the back. A TRD suspension kit gives it a 25mm lift.

Inside, the only TRD features are a red start/stop button and faux carbon-fibre interior panel set. It carries over the regular Omani-spec Land Cruiser VXE’s features that includes dual-zone climate control, 9-inch screen with Bluetooth and six speakers, 10.2-inch ceiling-mounted DVD player, leather upholstery and power-operated front seats.

This is the 362 hp 5.7-litre V8 version with an 8-speed automatic transmission. It is unclear if the TRD package will be offered with other engine options in every market, but it seems many of the parts can be easily retrofitted to any Land Cruiser. Bahrain has introduced the Land Cruiser TRD with body-coloured fenders and a 4.6-litre V8, as per a local dealer announcement.

The TRD version has already been announced in Bahrain as well. Expect it to become available in the UAE and other GCC countries soon.

Keep track of updates in the Toyota buyer guide.

Comments

  1. looks very weird to me. looks like the tried to mimick the nismo somewhat but failed IMHO

the LC itself looks much nicer i think

  2. Toyota is struggling to sell land cruisers in UAE due to tough competition from Nissan Patrol…now they saw a nismo version from Nissan and decided to launch a TRD Land Cruiser… nowadays every third car u see in Abu Dhabi is a Patrol….

  3. horsepower to ingen size ratio is very low.

  4. incomplete project

  5. Toyota should have known that these add-ons just killed the TRD LC. Rest in the showrooms in dust…

  6. I think Toyota should hire me for a better design…….seriously….

  7. How unfortunate! Such a good performer but Toyota can’t dress it up well anymore.

  8. Hi there,,,
How can I get these accessories, are they available in Oman? Where?
