2017 Lincoln Continental now in UAE and GCC

The Lincoln Continental is back as a 2017 model, and it’s now on sale in the GCC, taking its place as the Ford-owned brand’s flagship model.

An all-new, Lincoln-exclusive 3.0-litre twin turbo V6 is the top available engine choice for the new Lincoln Continental, paired with all-wheel-drive and producing a GSO-rated 378 hp and 575 Nm of torque. Other engines include a 344 hp 2.7-litre twin turbo V6 with 575 Nm of torque, and a 313 hp 3.7-litre V6 with 379 Nm of torque, both with all-wheel-drive.

The Continental has a long history, dating back to 1939 when the first one came out as a coupe and convertible, eventually evolving to offer a sedan body-style by 1958, and reaching iconic status when the 1961 version came out, becoming famous for being U.S. President Kennedy’s convertible limo. By 1982, it exclusively became a sedan, and in 1988, it switched to front-wheel-drive. It was finally killed off in 2002, dying as a forgettable full-sizer that no one missed. We’re not sure if it was ever offered for sale in the GCC back then.

The reborn Continental, which we saw in person at its reveal on the 2016 Detroit Auto Show floor, will start at Dhs 199,000 in the UAE.
