2019 BMW X5 debuts with more features and bigger nose

Just a few days after the launch of Audi’s flagship SUV, the Audi Q8, BMW had played their card in the luxury SUV game with the fourth-generation 2019 BMW X5. The large SUV features updated looks and better features.

In the looks department, the 2019 X5 retains the outgoing model’s minivan-like shape but there are some updates to write about. The kidney grille has grown to massive proportions, adaptive LED headlights are now offered as standard with BMW’s Laser lights now offered as an option. At the rear, the new taillights shed the old shape and takes on a more generic elongated form. Almost all panels at the back are new and this makes the 2019 X5 look a lot different from the outgoing X5.

The cabin of the 2019 X5 is feature-laden as always. A pair of 12.3-inch screens behind the steering and center console work as instrument cluster and infotainment control respectively. The front seats pamper the passengers with options like power-adjustable, ventilated, massaging seats. You can also upgrade the stock sound system to a 1500-watt, 20-speaker, Bowers & Wilkins stereo system. The optional third row will be made available only by December 2018.

Safety features like standard driver assistance features like blind spot monitoring, lane departure warning, front and rear collision warnings, pedestrian monitoring, and city collision mitigation comes as standard and opting for the Active Driving Assistant Professional piles on other features like traffic jam assist, lane keeping assist, automatic lane changing, and collision evasion aid with steering assist.

Powering the X5 xDrive 40i is a 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six engine that churns out 335 hp. If more power is what you need, you can pick the X5 xDrive 50i which comes with a 4.4-litre turbo V8 that makes 456 hp and can reach 100 kph from standstill in less than 4.8 seconds.

Expect the new X5 to reach UAE, KSA and other GCC markets by the end of the year.
