2019 Nissan Terra coming to UAE & GCC soon, replacing XTerra

As Nissan continues to go around Asia to introduce their new Terra body-on-frame SUV (the latest being in China), it has now been confirmed by Nissan Middle East that it is also coming to the UAE, KSA and other GCC markets as a replacement of the long-discontinued XTerra. Called the Nissan Terra, this SUV is built on a chassis shared with the Nissan Navara, and of course the cut-rate Mercedes X-Class. The left-hand-drive version of this seven-seat SUV will be launched publicly at the upcoming Beijing Motor Show.

The new Nissan Terra is a midsize vehicle measuring 4882mm in length, 1850mm in width and 1835mm in height. The 225mm of ground clearance gives it enough chops to tackle rough terrain. The approach and departure angles of the Nissan Terra are 32.3 degrees and 26.6 degrees, respectively. These along with the ladder-frame chassis, low-range gearbox, 4WD locking differentials, hill-start assist, hill-descent assist and a host of other systems, should make the Terra a good off-roading entry.

The styling of the Terra is inspired by the current Navara pickup. Though not as rough or rugged as the XTerra, the polished design of the Terra should appeal to more conservative customers. The front fascia sports Nissan’s latest interpretation of their trademark V-shaped grille.

Under the hood of the Terra is a 184 hp, 2.4-litre petrol engine which can be hooked up to a six-speed manual transmission or a seven-speed automatic transmission. Another mill on offer is the 2.5-litre four-cylinder turbo diesel engine with 190 hp and 450 Nm offered on tap. We’re guessing the UAE and GCC markets will probably also get a 4.0-litre V6 option.

The Terra SUV, for now, is an Asia-exclusive plan but it will probably debut in our region by the end of the year.

Keep track of updates in the Nissan buyer guide.

  1. Finally Nissan has introduced a competitor to the Toyota Fortuner and the Mitsubishi Montero Sport.
It is a good product but I feel Chevrolet Trailblazer still has the lead with its power and stance with that body on frame chassis.
If this is the direction automakers are heading to, then Ford should quickly launch the Everest in our market only to stiff up the competition.

  2. It cant replace X-Terra… Its just a mix of Navara pickup and Xtrail…

  3. As there’s no way it can “replace” the XTerra in my heart, i must admit i kinda like it this way as well… better transition than with the pathfinder, though…

  4. Is this Terra using traditional automatic shifting gear or CVT ?

  5. Why updates related to it launching in GCC we are in 2020

  6. Waiting for it’s launching
