Kia ProCeed GT

2019 Kia Ceed GT and ProCeed unveiled

During the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, Kia unveiled their Ceed Station Wagon model which followed the new Ceed Hatchback that was revealed a month before it. And now, they’ve brought out the 2019 Kia Ceed GT as well as the Kia ProCeed and the former is a proper hot hatchback with 201 hp.

The Ceed GT is a proper hatchback with 201 hp churned out of its turbocharged 1.6-litre engine. Though the output does not stack up to the other contenders in the segment like the Ford Focus ST, the Kia Ceed GT aims to do well because of its value for money proposition. Unlike the old Ceed GT, the 2019 model offers an optional seven-speed Dual-clutch automatic gearbox with paddle shifters over the regular 6-speed manual. Other updates for the hot hatch include bigger 320mm brake discs at the front and a host of visual updates. Aggressive front and rear bumpers, dual exhaust tips and red body accents spruce up the exterior of the Ceed GT. No details about the performance are out though.

The 2019 Kia Proceed comes with many major updates, the most significant of them being the change in the body style. Kia ditched the three-door coupe style for a more practical shooting brake body. Let it not fool you though, it looks rather handsome and will serve as a stylish alternative to the Ceed Sports Wagon. The lineup will include only the GT Line and GT models which should give adequate distance from the SW lineup so as to reduce cannibalism. The 2019 ProCeed lineup wil feature a 1.0-litre and 1.4-litre petrol and the 1.6-diesel engines from the Ceed hatch. The GT will inherit the hot 1.6-litre 201 hp engine from the 2019 Kia Ceed GT. The gearbox options include the same 6-speed manual and the 7-speed DCT from the Ceed GT.

The 2019 Kia Ceed GT and the 2019 Kia ProCeed “shooting brake” debuted at the 2018 Paris Motor Show. It is unlikely to be offered in the UAE and GCC, considering it never came here before.
