2020 Toyota Supra photos leaked ahead of Detroit Auto Show

A couple of photos of the highly anticipated 2020 Toyota Supra has made its way online ahead of its January 14th launch at the 2019 Detroit Auto Show.

While the concept featured a very curvy design, the final iteration of the Supra looks to be more sober. The front still looks quite aggressive with the bumper getting three massive air vents.

The roof gets the twin bubble design seen in the concept, while the rear features a diffuser surrounding two round tailpipes. The front wheel arches and bulging rear fenders give it a nice wide stance.

It’s safe to say it doesn’t look like the BMW Z4 at all, with whom it shares its platform with.

Under the hood, it will get the 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-6 cylinder engine, mated to a 8-speed automatic transmission. It will produce 380 hp and 500 Nm of torque, enough to propel it from 0 to 100 kph in less than 5 seconds. A 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine will soon follow.

  1. People buy toyotas for their reliability, I think it is a mistake to put a bmw engine in a toyota, it was better to make it the other way around, let bmw do the chasis and suspension tuning, while toyota do the engine and other mechanical things

    • The engine was developed in partnership with Toyota. I think everyone just needs to wait and see, this is actually the best inline 6 engine available.

      • no praetorship in the engine and the transmition at all, it is a pure BMW B58 engine used in the new 3 series, 4 series and the Z4, check the parts cataloge available online, even the parts has a BMW part numbers not TOYOTA’s

  2. I think it would of been better if everything was design and built by Toyota/Yamaha again. Just like how it was before, but I do understand the reason. I would’ve rather prefer Toyota to build it completely and have BMW partner instead.

  3. Wow!! It’s great to see the icon coming back after remaining dormant for more than a decade. No doubts, it is a stunner and one you can’t drag your eyes off with the suave lines which dominate the front fascia where sits a massive grille. The design flows sermlessly around the side profile too but one downer would be that it is reminiscent of the 86 from some angles. Going by the power and Torque it has on offer, it can be the best sports car for a lesser budget and ticks the right boxes well, at least for me.

  4. I enjoyed the pictures & descriptions of the many vehicles. I particularly was interested in the Toyota Supra.
