Under the hood of the 2019 Sonata Turbo sits a 1.6-litre turbo petrol unit that churns out 180 hp which will be handled using a six-speed manual gearbox. An optional eight-speed automatic is also offered. Other specs and performance figures of the Turbo have not been released by Hyundai. These will surface once the sedan goes up on the stand at the upcoming New York Auto Show.

Alongside the Sonata Turbo, the Sonata hybrid also took center-stage at the Seoul Motor Show. Specs for this model remain a mystery as Hyundai was tight-lipped about it. The only detail they let out is “equipped with the solar roof, the Sonata Hybrid generates power to travel 1,300 km a year”. The front end of the Sonata Hybrid features a different design compared to the regular model.

It is unknown at this time whether these variants will be offered in the UAE and GCC.
