2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 & GT350R arrives with GT500 parts
As muscle car enthusiasts gear up for the arrival of the new Shelby GT500, the automaker from Detroit has brought out something for the ones who cannot wait. The ones who are ready to settle for a smaller number of horses (it ain’t that small) will be glad with the launch of the 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 and the more track-focused GT350R.
The Mustang Shelby GT350R inherits not just the pedigree from the GT500, but other important stuff too. The redesigned front suspension geometry gets a high-trail steering rack knuckle that has trickled down from the GT500.
The highlight of the Shelby GT350 and GT350R has always been their engine. The V8 engine is a 5.2-litre and gets a flat-plane crankshaft. This lets the engine rev higher to an impressive 8,250 rpm, and of course, make a lot more noise. This mill produces 526 hp and 582 Nm of torque. It is hooked exclusively up to a 6-speed manual gearbox.
The GT350 models can be painted with explosive shades like Grabber Lime and Twister Orange for added flashiness. It also gains FordPass connectivity suite that lets the user monitor the vehicle through a smartphone. The track-focused GT350R gets more performance features including carbon-fibre wheels, revised body kit, and a more aggressive rear wing.
If the GT350 does not float your boat, you may have to wait a little bit more for the upcoming Shelby GT500 which is expected to come with 760 hp from its supercharged V8.
