2020 MG RX8 goes on sale in the UAE

The MG RX8 was recently launched in the UAE by Al Yousuf Motors. The RX8 adds a seven-seater SUV in the MG lineup for the first time. MG claims the RX8 has the largest wheelbase and the largest third-row space in its class.

For the exterior, it gets a chrome grille, 20-inch alloys (LUX trim), matrix-style LED lights, and six exterior colour options. Inside, the MG RX8 includes wood grain, chrome and some soft-touch trim. The cabin also gets features such as wireless phone charging, and smartphone connectivity with Apple Carplay and Android Auto enabled to the 10-inch touchscreen.

Looking at the dimensions , it is 4923mm long, 1930mm wide and 1842mm high – the RX8’s wheelbase of 2850mm is the largest in its segment, delivering a spacious interior with 37 storage compartments and a 2178-litre boot space.

The RX8 offers a real-time 4×4 Torque on Demand (TOD) System. This 4WD system has six different driving modes: Auto; 4L for low speed, high torque; Off-road; Snow for low-adhesion, wet surfaces; Sport for a faster throttle response and more aggressive shifting logic; and 2H for fuel efficient high speed cruising in 2WD mode. The entry level trim comes with a 4×2 rear wheel drive transmission system.

The RX8 is powered by a 220HP 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine and develops a maximum torque of 360Nm. It is mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox with optional paddle-shifters.

The MG RX8 is now available across the UAE with a starting price of AED 84,525. It is also available in Saudi Arabia and will be available soon in other GCC markets.

    • Mr. Basha, hope you driving the RX8. Could you share your experience and suggestions? I am planning to buy but worried since it’s Chinese.

      • Mr. Rajan, I would definitely recommend you to go for it, MG is originally a UK brand and acquired by SAIC Motors. Ride comfort is superb, it is also an off-roader. With 6 Years and 200K Kms warranty, you have less to worry except for the usual wear and tear consumables which is normal in any car. Its transmission is AISIN (used in Prado / Pajero etc.) Brakes from Germany, Air Condition from US etc.

This car is fabulous for its price tag comparing to other competitors in the segment. My family enjoys every time we take it for a spin.
