2024 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray

2024 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray electrifies the sports car for the first time

Gone are the blue-collar industrial days of American sports cars. With the C8 Corvette’s engine migrating to its centre and adding tech after tech, these machines are now more modern than ever. Boosting this progression is the new 2024 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray, the first-ever electrified Corvette, and it flexes 665 horses.

The V8 is still here, though. Unlike some European manufacturers, Chevy has not bothered about removing the V8. The LT2 6.2-litre V8 sits at the centre of the 2024 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray, making 495 hp and 637 Nm by itself. The E-Ray adds a front-axle mounted electric motor that produces 160 hp and 165 Nm.

Combine all this, and the Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray can zoom from 0 to 100 kph in just over 2.7 seconds. This is the quickest a Corvette has ever been. The quarter-mile can now be dispatched in just 10.5 seconds. Being a plug-in-hybrid, the E-Ray can drive up to 72 kph without using its V8.

Magnetic Ride Control 4.0, an advanced suspension system, is standard in the E-Ray, as do Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes. The 20- and 21-inch wheels are shod with either the Michelin Sport all-season tyres or the optional Michelin Pilot Sport 4S summer tyres. All 2024 Corvettes will gain an updated driver assistance suite with added features.

Four inches of additional width gives the 2024 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray more presence than the regular Stingray. It also flaunts a unique front fascia with more horizontal elements. Buyers can spec it with an E-Ray exclusive Electric Blue body stripe to make it pop. The 2024 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray will arrive in its home market by the end of this year.
