2025 Kia Tasman launched in the UAE

Kia is officially entering the pickup truck game with the all-new 2025 Kia Tasman, revealed at a roadshow ahead of its Middle East launch. Targeting a wide range of buyers, from off-road enthusiasts to commercial users and lifestyle adventurers, the Tasman combines traditional truck toughness with a level of tech and comfort to match some premium SUVs.

Design

The exterior design follows Kia’s “Opposites United” philosophy, blending aggressive styling with clean lines. Customers can choose from nine exterior paint colours, including some standout earthy tones, and four interior packages—such as Espresso Brown and Terracotta Brown—for a more personalised cabin experience.

Kia also offers factory-backed customisation with 12 OEM upgrade packages available from launch. This is a segment first, giving buyers a more bespoke truck experience straight from the showroom.

Tech-loaded cabin

Inside, the Tasman features a modern SUV-like interior with a strong focus on tech. The truck gets Kia Connect Car Services with over 50 innovative features, including Remote Smart Parking Assist (RSPA), Over-the-Air (OTA) updates, and a Harman/Kardon premium sound system.

Despite its tough exterior, the Tasman embraces Kia’s ongoing sustainability goals. Materials used in the cabin include bio-plastics, recycled PET fabrics, and eco-friendly paint, aligning with the brand’s global push for greener mobility.

Kia Tasman Engine and Performance

Under the hood, buyers have two engine options: a 2.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired with an 8-speed automatic and a 2.2L turbo-diesel, available with either a 6-speed manual or 8-speed auto.

The petrol engine produces 281 hp and 421 Nm of torque and does 0 to 100 kph in 8.5 seconds. The diesel motor churns out 210 hp and 441 Nm of torque and hits 0 to 100 kph in 10.4 seconds.

The Tasman is well-prepped for the region’s off-road terrain, with 252mm of ground clearance and a segment-leading 32° approach angle (X-Pro variant). Its payload capacity is rated up to 1,195 kg, while its towing capacity reaches 3.5 tonnes, putting it squarely in competition with established names in the midsize pickup segment.

Kia says the Tasman has been subjected to 1,777 individual tests across 18,000 cycles, including wading trials, towing evaluations, all-terrain durability checks, and on-track performance runs—proving it’s no soft-roader.

Conclusion

The 2025 Kia Tasman is a bold entry into a competitive segment, offering a solid mix of rugged capability, high-tech features, and premium design. With customisation options, eco-conscious materials, and impressive specs on paper, the Tasman could be a strong alternative to the usual suspects in the pickup market when it lands in UAE showrooms later this year.
