Zeekr 9X revealed as all-new luxury hybrid flagship SUV
Zeekr, the premium electric arm of China’s Geely Holding Group, has taken the wraps off its upcoming flagship SUV, the Zeekr 9X. The new full-size luxury SUV made its official public premiere at 2025 Shanghai Motor Show and marks the debut of a new design direction for the brand.
Positioned as Zeekr’s most high-end product to date, the 9X combines a bold new look with advanced autonomous driving tech and what the company calls “Super Electric Hybrid” performance. It’s also expected to be the first Zeekr model to support Level 3 autonomous driving, putting it on par with the latest luxury EVs from Europe.
Design and exterior
The Zeekr 9X takes a squared-off, upright approach to SUV design, giving it a commanding on-road presence. Zeekr describes it as “majestic without being intimidating,” with a large vertical grille that echoes styling cues from the Zeekr 009 MPV. Chrome vertical bars dominate the front, giving it a premium but restrained appearance.
Along the sides, clean body lines and a tall profile give the 9X an upscale silhouette. At the rear, the 9X gets a striking full-width “Ring Screen Star Diamond” taillight cluster featuring 43,343 diamond-cut elements. It’s complemented by a pair of “Side Wing Star Diamond Matrix” vertical lights that mirror the front fascia’s visual cues.
Tech and autonomous driving
Under the skin, the Zeekr 9X debuted the brand’s new G-Pilot intelligent driving suite, based on Level 3 autonomous driving capability. Built atop the company’s next-gen ZEEA 3.0 digital architecture, Zeekr says the system offers a 50% improvement in response time across the vehicle’s control systems.
The 9X uses a five-LiDAR sensor setup – one long-range unit and four short-range ones for blind-spot coverage – enabling what Zeekr claims are four layers of 360-degree perception for enhanced autonomous driving.
Zeekr 9x power and performance
The Zeekr 9X is also the first vehicle to introduce the brand’s new Super Electric Hybrid system. Unlike traditional hybrid or plug-in hybrid tech, Zeekr says this powertrain blends the best features of BEVs, PHEVs, and EREVs for maximum efficiency, range, and performance.
It has a 275 hp 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine connected to a 3-speed automatic gearbox. The engine also acts as a generator to charge the battery, giving the 9X a claimed range of 380 km.
The 9X can charge from 20 to 80% in 9 minutes courtest of its 900-volt electric architecture. It also has a 48-volt system running all of the electric equipment, including the two-chamber air suspension that works together with active antiroll bars to help it corner flatter.
Zeekr 9x pricing and market positioning
Targeted at the high-end luxury SUV segment, the Zeekr 9X is expected to start from around AED 250,000, with the flagship edition potentially reaching AED 540,000.
